Ten of War

Hi, Welcome to the Ten of War Landing page.

Ten of War, is TAG’s game of Warring Renaissance States, modelling in miniature, the conflicts of the Early Modern period, 1494 -1700.

The scope of which allows for playing, over 150 global States, simulating conflict from small hunter/gatherers groups, through to much more organised and larger regular formations.

This Page will be updated, with progress, as regularly as it happens. (24th April 2024)

The rule set, is at present broken into two sections, battles, and campaigns, and a State ‘list’, will be provided separately, possibly combined into theatre booklets later.

There are about 40 States that are covered by the TAG – Renaissance Range.

The Lists for these will be my priory, followed by the States which ours abut, but we don’t make minis for. Then all points further out.

Easy access to the States lists will allow for rigorous play-testing of the rules remotely, and I welcome any input at that point.

The list of States I intend to cover will be freely available here on the TAG site, as I produce them.

It is my intention that a beta version of the rule set, will be given away to a small group of gamers whose opinions I trust. (I did this, they mostly grunted in approval, and one or two typos, and amendments were made).

I am happy I have a readable rule set, with I am working campaign section.

So… I need people to play-test these rules, offer opinions and pick out any remaining typos or errors.

The PDF version is £2.50, mostly to cover the cost of hosting secure files long term, but also to filter out the bots.

The play-test version is here

Bored of reading now? Have a picture.

These are the States that concern me, before 1650… after 1650, I know less and would rely on outside help.

Which is a huge list, culled mostly from WRG’s DBR list of the 90s with some added, but all the late 17thC Western States, & armies of the Colonial expansion left out(!).

I’m yet to be convinced that smaller subdivisions of larger states are necessarily needed. ReG has 100’s of lists, I feel we can a get similar diversity of army in a suitably designed main list.

So if you’d like to help, download the rules, pic one of the states listed above, work out your forces or ask me to prioritise that State’s list.
